PREDSTAVLJANJE PUBLIKACIJE MIGRENT

U utorak 3. listopada u zagreba?koj Booksi održat ?e se predstavljanje publikacije Migrent o migrantskom poduzetništvu u Hrvatskoj s po?etkom u 18 sati.  Neki od predava?a na promociji su Bashkim Fazliu iz Okusa doma te Prince Wale Soniyiki, osniva? Društva Afrikanaca u Hrvatskoj i restorana African Cuisine. Drugog dana konferencije, jedan od govornika bio je i komunikacijski savjetnik, osniva? kolaborativnog bloga Pollitika.com koji je prerasao u udrugu Vjetrenja?a, glasoviti hrvatski bloger, Marko Rakar (@mrak). On-line non-profit media is still developing in Croatia

The second panel on the Conference was about non-profit media. Non-profit media are mostly on-line media, struggling with funding and other organizational issues. The first presentation by Dan Gilmor, famous American technology writer and columnist, gave us an overview of the U.S. non-profit media and non-profit journalism.  First of all, there are all kinds of non-profit media and organizations in U.S.  trying to do new forms of presenting news and issues that are often neglected or completely ignored by mainstream media. The second day of the Conference about traditional values in the new media environment has started. The first speaker was Joshua Benton whose presentation was about new for-profit models. He mentioned different approaches about how to launch independent news media and create independent news source online.  One approach could be picking one particular niche, for example the site politico.com which is simply covering only politics. Mr. Benton highlighted that everything is about organizing. Onwards, something local is sometimes the best niche to start from, for example Somerville Patch, the community news site covering Somerville. Another approach could be a video startup. The last panel of the first day of the Conference started with Daria Marjanovic’s presentation American Way with Croatian View. Ms. Marjanovic is a Croatian TV journalist and professor at Zagreb University, Faculty of Political Science. At the beginning she highlighted one quote to describe situation in the media in 21st century: Society doesn’t change when people adopt new tools, they change when they adopt new behaviours. Ms. Marjanovic talked about what is news in convergent newsrooms means nowadays. After the „non-conference“ session about investigative journalism ended, the third panel started. First presenter was Zeljko Ivankovic, Editor-in-Chief of Banka magazine, who was talking about what exactly relevant information is. Relevant news is relevant not only for journalists, but for scientists, military and business people. Ivankovic’s presentation contained three parts. First was about the notion of relevance, it was an abstract analysis. Mr. Ivankovic pointed out philosophy of relevance, the logic of relevance, and connection between duty and relevance. Second part was about the principle that says facts are sacred, comments are free. At the first day of the conference „Traditional Values In The New Media Enviroment: A regional media conference“, which is being held today today, 16.11.2012. in Croatian Journalists Association key speakers are: Joe Bergantino, Dan Gillmor i Joshua Benton. The second panel in the Conference was about traditional media values and trends in media today. First presentation was held by Mirko Petric  from University of Zadar, Department of Sociology. His task was to present the case of Croatia. He started his story with conclusion that journalist in the former Yugolsavia were „social“ workers and there was no private ownership. Croatia had the era of turbulence in 1990’s and there was a diversity of ownership models. In period 1998.-2008. there was an entry of transnational players in Croatia and Internet slowly started to work and society became included . First day of The Regional Media Conference about Traditional Values In The New Media Environment began today in the Hall of Croatian Journalists Association. Welcome remark was made by Tim Gerhadson, Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb. He pointed out that truth is the most important thing in journalism these days and that journalists should do more and be more critical. FPZG Hosted the Opening of a Regional Media Conference

Faculty of Political Sciences was the host of the opening of A Regional Media Conferenc. That conference is co-organized by the Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy Zagreb, and the Croatian Journalists Association. U.S. Embassy donated equipment to students’ TV Studio at University of Zagreb Faculty of Political Sciences/ Journalism Department, so that was the second good reason for gathering. The special guests of the conference opening were U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Merten, Co-Director of New England Center for Investigative Reporting Joe Bergantino, and Croatian Journalists Association president Zdenko Duka.
