Multiplatform Storytelling Workshop

WORKSHOP – DAY 4

After seeing the work that was done in the last few days, the few mistakes we made stood out. That was a helpful insight, since we had another day of filming ahead of us. More sequences, tight shots and better sound was our goal. With that in mind, Petra and I went out to find another story. However, the story found us (in a way). With so little time for lunch, we were starving. Since both of us live on the coast, we decided it would be fun to find a citizen of Zagreb to recommend to us a traditional continental meal. And, a place we could eat it. Then…

Field assigment

Morning, noon, afternoon, every time is a coffee time. For our second assignment we decided to do a little project about coffee culture in Zagreb. Sunny weather pulled a lot of people outdoors. Coffee shop terraces were full and we managed to capture some of it. After our last task, we’ve learned on what should we pay more attention. The more tight shots we have, the better our project will be. This time we took a lot of equipment with us. In our head it is very clear. We know, more or less, what shots and what sounds we want to use. Knowing editing we know how to put all of our ideas in unity. Even it is very hard and sometimes boring, it is very important. Good editing, usually one we don’t think too much about while watching film is what separates bad from good and good from excellent film. With power of editing we suggest viewers what they should feel and…

There is a story, capture it

New media. In my opinion, probably the worst form of journalism. Problem that I have with it is the lack of spirit, soul and tradition. I’m not saying that these are rational reasons but some arguments to support that statement exist. Can professor Charlie Gee and his multiplatform storytelling workshop on web video content change my opinion and open a new perspective on the new media? Based on the first two days, I have to say- Yes. Not only that we have opportunity to work with new technology but we are being taught the best ways to use it. Although the new technology was the first thing that caught my eye, more…
