Bergantino: “Situation in the media here is not good, but have hope!”

After the „non-conference“ session about investigative journalism ended, the third panel started. First presenter was Zeljko Ivankovic, Editor-in-Chief of Banka magazine, who was talking about what exactly relevant information is. Relevant news is relevant not only for journalists, but for scientists, military and business people. Ivankovic’s presentation contained three parts. First was about the notion of relevance, it was an abstract analysis. At the first day of the conference „Traditional Values In The New Media Enviroment: A regional media conference“, which is being held today today, 16.11.2012. in Croatian Journalists Association key speakers are: Joe Bergantino, Dan Gillmor i Joshua Benton. Speakers from the region discuss trends in media

The second panel in the Conference was about traditional media values and trends in media today. First presentation was held by Mirko Petric  from University of Zadar, Department of Sociology. His task was to present the case of Croatia. He started his story with conclusion that journalist in the former Yugolsavia were „social“ workers and there was no private ownership. Croatia had the era of turbulence in 1990’s and there was a diversity of ownership models. Regional Media Conference started today in Zagreb

First day of The Regional Media Conference about Traditional Values In The New Media Environment began today in the Hall of Croatian Journalists Association. Welcome remark was made by Tim Gerhadson, Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb. He pointed out that truth is the most important thing in journalism these days and that journalists should do more and be more critical. FPZG Hosted the Opening of a Regional Media Conference

Faculty of Political Sciences was the host of the opening of A Regional Media Conferenc. That conference is co-organized by the Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy Zagreb, and the Croatian Journalists Association. U.S. Embassy donated equipment to students’ TV Studio at University of Zagreb Faculty of Political Sciences/ Journalism Department, so that was the second good reason for gathering.
